DPD Polska has opened a new parcel sorting hub in Parzniew, near Warsaw. The hub measures 14,000 sqm and will service the Warsaw region as well as north-eastern and eastern Poland. The general contractor for this built-to-suit facility was Hillwood.
The new parcel sorting hub comprises 11,000 sqm of warehouse space and 3,000 sqm of office space. In addition, it will feature 120 doors and a 4.6+ hectare truck yard.
The parcel hub was opened in late October 2018 and will develop its full processing capacity in three phases. The first start-up phase completed with the opening of the facility. The second phase, which is currently underway, will end in late January 2019. During this time the hub will process 70-80,000 parcels per day. During the third phase to be completed by the end of Q1 2019, up to 150,000 parcels will be processed daily. Once the scheme is fully operational, the hub will have the capability to sort up to 250,000 parcels per day.
The key objective of this location is to increase the operational capabilities of DPD Polska through process improvements and streamlining. The new logistics model provides for some decentralisation of logistics processes. Thanks to shorter distances between DPD’s branches and its Parzniew parcel hub, DPD will improve delivery efficiency. The firm is planning to further expand its infrastructure in line with this model.
