High-bay warehouse opened in Port Gdynia logistics centre

A modern high-bay warehouse is one of the key elements of the Intermodal Logistics Centre in the Western Port. The Seaport of Gdynia Authority, considering the constantly growing market requirements, particularly in the sector of logistics and warehouse facilities, has successfully completed all the construction works. The project is the first of four warehouses of this type to be built in the Seaport of Gdynia; it found a tenant during the construction phase.

The warehouse, with a usable height of 10.5 m, is designed for storing highly-processed general cargo in packaging. Logistics services will include warehousing, acceptance, storage, picking and packing, and release of stock in cross-docking. The warehouse is divided into four storage chambers measuring between 2,500 and 4,000 sqm, and each chamber will be adapted to the dimensions of pallet racks whilst ensuring the right width of the aisle for forklifts with extendable masts. Its rooftop structure is suitable for a photovoltaic system to be installed on its entire surface.

The official opening was combined with the transport of humanitarian aid to Zambia, organised by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the Material Reserves Agency and the “Redemptoris Missio” Humanitarian Aid Foundation. 22 tonnes of medical products were sent to Zambia by sea from the Seaport of Gdynia, intended for 18 healthcare facilities run there by Polish missionaries.
