IKEA introduces new logistics solutions

IKEA is opening a Parcel Unit in Siechnice near Wrocław, a solution based on cooperation between its business partners: a logistics operator 3LP, the owner of the Siechnice distribution facility, and GLS, a courier company. 3LP offers sophisticated automatic solutions for order picking while the dense network of logistics and collection points of GLS guarantees short delivery times. More than 6,000 products in the IKEA range will be available for delivery from the Parcel Unit in Siechnice.

The warehouse near Wrocław is a high-tech logistics facility for e-commerce. Automation of warehousing and picking of IKEA products is pivotal to seamless order fulfilment. Most orders are processed by an automated system that guarantees top speed of order picking (up to 2,000 items per hour) and eliminates almost all errors. High warehouse efficiency is a critical issue in the face of an expected growth in online orders.
