Mostostal Pomorze leases a new warehouse on the Ostrów Island

Mostostal Pomorze SA, a specialist provider of steel structures, has leased more than 1,500 sqm of warehouse and office space in a production facility on the Ostrów Island in Gdansk. The tenant was represented by real estate advisory firm Cresa.

Gdansk-based Mostostal Pomorze SA manufactures large steel and aluminium structures for both Polish and overseas markets. It delivers projects mainly for the offshore industry (mostly for the Scandinavian market) and shipbuilding, oil and gas, construction and infrastructure industries. The firm also produces cranes and specialist structures. Its new facility will comprise a 1,230 sqm assembly hall and 235 sqm of office and welfare space.

“We’ve recently signed many prestigious contracts; the first being to extend an oil rig and build steel modules for a refinery plant, followed by a contract to deliver an underwater infrastructure section for an offshore project. For the latter, we need even more prefabrication space to complete the ‘Northern Lights’ project,” says Arkadiusz Aszyk, President of the Management Board of Mostostal Pomorze SA.

“The regeneration of the Ostrów Island will create a favourable environment for investors who require specialist business solutions. It’s an attractive and unique site in Europe. It is located in Gdansk’s city centre and close to the seaport, with excellent transport connections. We want this site to become a hotspot for maritime, offshore and steel industries. With such investors as Mostostal placing trust in us, we are moving ever closer to achieving this objective,” comments Przemysław Sztandera, President of the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone.

The site that is being regenerated by the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone comprises manufacturing facilities with a total area of 16,500 sqm, production and engineering buildings (11,000 sqm) and warehouses (4,000 sqm). Its cranes have a lifting capacity of 16-50 tonnes. The regeneration project of part of the Ostrów Island owned by the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone has been divided into phases.

“Our client was looking for an assembly hall with a gantry crane of the height and lifting capacity required for construction of large steel structures. The scheme on the Ostrów Island with its nearby wharf and infrastructure will enable sea transport of structures to clients, substantially facilitating the operations of Mostostal Pomorze SA,” says Jakub Dudkiewicz, Advisor, Industrial and Warehouse Department, Cresa Poland.

“We are pleased to see Polish firms grow in Pomerania. We recommended the production hall in the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone, which offers facilities meeting unique parameters and special requirements of our clients. At Cresa we fully understand the needs of the offshore sector and support its growth,” says Michał Rafałowicz, Head for the Pomeranian Region, Industrial and Warehouse Department, Cresa Poland.
