Panattoni enters Silesia. 70,000 sqm for City Logistics Katowice

Panattoni has acquired land in Silesia for an urban logistics project. The developer purchased 14.4 hectares of land on Miedziana Street to build City Logistics Katowice. Construction work at the park, anticipated to feature 70,000 sqm at full build-out, will commence before year-end.

City Logistics Katowice will consist of four buildings totalling 70,000 sqm, of which approximately 5,000 sqm will be office space. In the first phase, two buildings with an area of 6,785 sqm and 21,359 sqm will be built on a 14.4-hectare plot in north-eastern Katowice. The city centre is only 3.5 km away, which will significantly facilitate tenants’ urban logistics operations, as well as make it easier for employees to commute.

City Logistics Katowice will be located by national road 86, just 5 km (a 10-minute drive) from the Murckowska interchange of the A4 motorway (running across southern Poland from the German border to Ukraine), and with an approximately 15-minute drive from the A1 motorway, connecting the north and south of the country. There are three international airports located close to the park: Pyrzowice (29 km, a 27-minute drive), Krakow (50 minutes) and Ostrava (60 minutes).

Panattoni has an increasing number of brownfield investments. For example, for Lear Corporation, the developer built a 30,492 sqm facility as a result of the redevelopment of an existing and dilapidated building located in Legnica; it also redeveloped a factory for K-Flex Polska. Since 2016, Panattoni has operated an environmental research unit responsible for implementing the developer's strategy for the restoration of contaminated post-industrial sites.
