Poland turns into one Special Economic Zone

The Polish government has adopted a bill on supporting new investments with tax incentives offered in special economic zones to be available
across the whole territory of Poland. Until now, special economic zones occupied 25,000 hectares, accounting for 0.08% of Poland’s territory.

According to the new legislation, tax exemptions will depend on the location and type of the planned investment and the quality of new jobs.
Investments adding to the competitiveness and innovation of regions, in mid-sized cities with a weak economic and social base
and in high-unemployment regions will be favoured. Other positive factors will include plans to cooperate with vocational schools and to create specialist classes.

“If the new special economic zone regulations are signed into law, occupier demand for industrial space is likely to become more evenly distributed across the country. There will be an increased interest in weaker locations that so far have not offered tax exemptions typical of special economic zones,” says Bolesław Kołodziejczyk, PhD, Head of Research & Advisory.
