SPAR plans to invest in a logistics centre

SPAR Group is to open a distribution centre in Poland for retailers. Workshops with the logistics team are underway and potential locations are currently being reviewed.

“Spar Group’s top priority is to develop and support its retail chain in Poland. We are planning to make significant investments and to launch a modern distribution centre for our partner retailers. Timely deliveries of products to stores from our central warehouses are key for us. That’s why we are looking for a well-connected location to strengthen logistics capabilities. At full build-out, the facility will provide over 6,500 products from 500 suppliers,” said Tomasz Syller, Managing Director, Member of the Management Board of WASZ SKLEP SPAR.

The new logistics centre will complement and extend logistics capabilities of the existing infrastructure of Piotr i Pawel.

On 17 July 2019, the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection approved the acquisition of a stake in Piotr i Pawel by a subsidiary of The SPAR Group Ltd. As an investor, SPAR Group supports the retailer in liabilities payment, lease negotiations and chain development. Contracts have already been either signed or renewed with more than 200 suppliers.
