Waimea Cargo Terminal Airport Szczecin-Goleniow was officially inaugurated on Wednesday, 2 October. Its investor is a Waimea Holding company.

Waimea Cargo Terminal Airport Szczecin-Goleniow, with a total area of 8,000 sqm including office and welfare space, is an integral part of the Szczecin-Goleniow Airport infrastructure. The state-of-the-art project was developed using the investor’s own funds in partnership with Rose Hall International LLP. BNP Paribas provided PLN 18.9 million in loans to finance the final phase of the project valued at more than PLN 30 million.

Key tenants of the facility include WELCOME Airport Services, a leading handling agent in Poland providing cargo services in several locations.

WELCOME Airport Services provides multi-faceted support for freight forwarders, airlines, importers and exporters in three locations: Warsaw, Szczecin and Krakow. It also operates a specialist terminal in Poznan. One of its notable developments has been the opening of a Customs Agency which is part of the Cargo Welcome Division.

In Szczecin-Goleniow, WELCOME Airport Services will provide integrated cargo handling services on an area covering 2,000 sqm.

Another tenant is OMEGAir CARGO Sp. z o.o., which offers a full range of air, sea and rail freight forwarding services. On the 1,350 sqm leased in the new terminal, the company will provide services of organising air transport of goods. The functional and fully-equipped cargo spaces meet the requirements of the terminal’s tenants.

Waimea Cargo Terminal Airport Szczecin-Goleniow is the region’s most modern facility which will provide comprehensive air freight services in Western Pomerania. The multimodal terminal, with the airport’s technical facilities and favourable conditions for the growth of goods transport, will be an air freight centre for the entire region. The Polish market attracts leading e-commerce investors, which is confirmation of the market’s huge potential. In e-commerce, deliveries need to reach customers very quickly, and speed is a strong advantage of air transport and an efficient cargo terminal. Szczecin-Goleniow Airport and the just opened cargo terminal fulfil the requirements of companies based in Western Pomerania and north-eastern Germany, whilst ensuring excellent conditions for logistics companies, focusing in particular on e-commerce operations.

The future of the Polish air cargo industry will be largely dependent on infrastructure development in the coming years. Waimea Holding is responding to the market’s requirements by designing and building cargo terminals. Modern and fully-equipped schemes developed in the immediate vicinity of airports are suitable for providing seamless cargo handling services, including various types of specialist shipments. They attract contractors and enable a rapid growth in cargo volumes across the region. Cargo terminals added to airport facilities strengthen the positions of airports in cargo markets, provide additional warehouse space to let and are another step towards service diversification. They facilitate the operations of Polish importers and exporters, bolster trade and support the growth of air shipping services. The investor of Waimea Cargo Terminal Airport Szczecin-Goleniow is a special purpose vehicle Waimea Logistic Park 3 Sp. z o.o. of Waimea Holding S.A. The design is by the CITY Architekci studio and the general contractor is Eastwave Building Company Sp. z o. o.
